One Name
Burdened, buried, bound in slavery
Labor long and far from home
Working, wishing, wanting, waiting
Not forgotten, not alone
Exodus must be the answer;
The power of God intercede
Guiding, guarding through the waters;
Fire and cloud take the lead
Finding, feeling this new freedom;
Yet there’s grumbling on the quest
No satisfaction, no thanksgiving;
Put the giver to the test
Gracious God he gives in mercy;
Even to faithless cries
Water from the rock is flowing;
Bread and bird from on High
Looking, lusting, longing idols
god of self and god of gold
Pagan treasure, fleshly desires
The human heart would be sold
Dying souls need their salvation
The Lamb of God slain to give
Lifted high with our sin bearing
All who look to him will live
One name to bring me out of this wilderness
One name to set captives free
One name alone to lead to the Promised Land
One name to Christ, glory be
Only one name under heaven
Christ by which we must be saved
It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead…Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:10,12
