Why is it that the ones that are seen as weak are at times the strongest of them all? Many years ago a family gathered for the funeral of their grandfather. As many of the family were crying near the casket, up walked a three year old boy and he simply asked, “Why are you crying? Grandpa is in heaven with Jesus.” We could try to down play the youngster’s statement concluding he must have heard someone else talking about Jesus and heaven. And that could be true but only the simple faith of a child could make the Easter message so easy to comprehend.

Wasn’t it Jesus who said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.   I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” John 10:14,15

The beauty and the comfort of our simple Easter faith is black and white on the pages of Scripture. It is easy enough for any child to understand. Jesus died for the sins of the world. Forgiven of all sins through faith in Christ Jesus, we have access to God and heaven. Jesus rose from the dead so we who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ will also rise from the dead, and be assured of it. Because he lives we live.

This is the most amazing message ever spoken. This is the simple message that Christians believe. This is why we celebrate Easter. Why are we crying? We too will live forever in heaven. Jesus said, Because I live, you also will live. John 14:19

Happy Easter!
