When was silent I was wasting away
My spirit would groan all day long
My strength was sapped like a hot summer day
Concealed in pride all my wrongs
Content to hide all my wrongs

Darkness can’t hide what the heart won’t release
No potion to numb all the pain
Drowning the past when it knows how to swim
The memories revealed on my face
Too heavy I find no escape

If we claim that there’s nothing really wrong
Truth in us cannot be found
But if we confess all our sins to the Lord
He is worthy to pay all our costs
He paid them all at His cross

Knowing my sin, Couldn’t keep it all in
Couldn’t cover them up anymore
I said, “I confess, All that I have transgressed”
And you Lord forgave all my wrongs

Lay em down, all sin down,
Lay em down, down upon the cross
Lay em down, your sin now,
Lay em down, down upon His cross.

We journey once again to the cross of Christ this Lenten season. Don’t go through the motions. Don’t pretend it doesn’t matter. Lay your sins on Jesus knowing they are gone. You are forgiven. Then turn from that horribly wondrous cross to see the victorious empty tomb and live with the relief and joy that only the Holy Spirit can give. You have received the gift of faith to live as the child of God that you are. Lay your sins down on Jesus and live your life of thanks for the cross and the empty tomb with their blessings that are yours through faith in Jesus.

Keep Christ First!
