Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

I had been thinking about Obi’s celebrity status. I was thinking about how many people are praying for him. I was thinking about how many people would do anything to help him. He even has a famous football celebrity on his side. We live in a world of connections. It’s great to have connections to people who can help us out in this world whatever our needs. But as I was thinking about all the great connections Obi has, I also remembered that our earthly connections can only do so much.

With joy, the Apostle Paul reminds the Romans that they have a heavenly connection. The Christians in Rome of the first century didn’t have many earthly “connections” besides each other. On the contrary, most were against them. But they had a connection that far outweighed any one of this earth. Jesus, the Christ, their Savior was interceding, was backing them in all things.

We are reminded by God’s word that we have Jesus backing us in all things. God wants us to know and remember who our greatest connection is. Consider your connection, the one who has your back, who is interceding for you. Jesus is the one who died for you, for your sin. Beyond that, your connection is the one who rose from death, defeated the grave, and sits in power and authority over all things.

Consider your connections. You have one far greater than all earthly connections combined, Jesus Christ, died, raised, ruling, is your heavenly connection with your heavenly blessings. Praise God for he provides our earthly connections that help us with our earthly needs. Even more so, Praise God for Jesus Christ who has helped us with or eternal needs, forgiveness, salvation and life.
